This project contends with the challenges of consolidating a traditionally-minded company into a 20,000 SF floor while accommodating requirements for future growth and modern workplace strategies and promoting a new office culture. The design approach focuses on a centralized volume consolidating functional support areas which twist in plan converting what would otherwise be a typical corridor arrangement into casual moments for meeting and socialization. The skew of this central volume reverberates in the private offices bars, which bend to contain focused workgroups, and which have been pulled internally from the perimeter glazing to create opportunities for collaboration amongst these groups. This formal language carries into the Reception area from which a storage ‘buffer’ bends to embrace the Kitchen and Training Room which together create the office’s primary social hub.
